Geeson P. Lawadinata
Geeson P. Lawadinata, Founder and Executive Director, established Grace International in 2003, and spearheads the company’s growth in the luxury boutique hotel business. The opening of The Scarlet Huntington, San Francisco in May 2014 marks the company’s first expansion beyond Singapore. It is anticipated that a few more properties will be acquired and developed in the future with Geeson at the helm.
In the early 1990s, at the start of his professional career, he was appointed Treasury Analyst at American Express International in Singapore. He then opted to join the family business and today, sits on the board of various investment companies in several countries, specialising in property development, manufacturing and trading.
Geeson was awarded New Tourism Entrepreneur of The Year, at the 20th Tourism Awards 2005. The accolade was certainly a recognition of the successful launch of The Scarlet brand in Singapore. The hotel has made a bold statement, both locally and internationally, by preserving and harmoniously blending the architectural styles of Singapore’s heritage buildings with a striking, audacious concept.
He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Pepperdine University in California and a MBA, specialising in Finance from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.
Fong Kah Seng
Group Chief Executive Officer
Fong Kah Seng joined Grace International in 2012 as Group Operations Director and assumed the role of Group Chief Executive Officer in 2013. He oversees The Scarlet Singapore and The Scarlet Huntington, San Francisco, setting the group’s collective strategy, vision and business development. He is also responsible for sustaining both properties’ prime market positions while forging new pinnacles in financial returns.
Kah Seng’s career achievements in hospitality began with the international 5-star hotel group, The Westin Stamford & Westin Plaza. He held various managerial positions including Front Office Manager, Credit Manager and Director of New Business Development, which enabled him to gain an all-rounded experience during his 10-year tenure there.
Thereafter Kah Seng continued to hone his skills and expertise during his managerial positions in luxury hotels such as The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore and Conrad International Centennial Singapore. He also assumed the position of Director of Rooms at Sheraton Towers Singapore. Prior to joining Grace International, Kah Seng was General Manager at The Scarlet Singapore, Changi Village Hotel, Goodwood Park Hotel, and Group General Manager (Retail) in SUTL Pte Ltd.
Kah Seng holds an Executive MBA from University at Buffalo, The State University of New York; Master of Hospitality Administration from University of Nevada, Las Vegas; Bachelor of Science Honours in Management Studies from University of London; and Higher Diploma in Hotel Management from SHATEC.
Chief Financial Officer
Lily Yap joined Grace International as Chief Financial Officer on July 2013. She leads the administrative and finance divisions for both The Scarlet Singapore and The Scarlet Huntington, San Francisco. Lily brings wth her a wealth of accounting, financial and auditing experience.
Lily has more than 20 years of diverse experience in corporate finance and accounting. Starting as an Assistant Financial Controller at The Westin Stamford and Westin Plaza, Lily advanced her career as Financial Controller with Raffles The Plaza (currently The Fairmont Singapore) and Swissotel The Stamford. She was also the Brand Financial Controller and Regional Financial Controller at Raffles Hotels & Resorts.
A graduate with honours in Accountancy from the National University of Singapore, Lily is also a Certified Public Accountant of the Institute of the Certified Public Accountants of Singapore, a member of FCCA (Fellow of ACCA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
Group Operations Director
Manoharan Mannarlingam joined Grace International as Group Operations Director in September 2013. He overseas and manages the group operations for both The Scarlet Singapore and The Scarlet Huntington, San Francisco. He is responsible for integrating the core operations of both properties within the group’s established vision and identity.
With 15 years of working experience from the InterContinental Hotel Singapore, Orchard Hotel Singapore, Sheraton Towers Singapore, Changi Village Hotel, Goodwood Park Hotel and Pan Pacific Singapore, Mano brings with him an extensive and comprehensive knowledge of hotel operations, yield and revenue management.
Prior to joining Grace International, Mano held the positions of Director of Revenue Management and Front Office Manager. He was responsible for maximising revenue generation and returns, market intelligence, yield, strategic developments, channel management, whilst ensuring the delivery of quality and a consistent standard of guest services.
Mano graduated on the Dean’s List from Hawaii Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Travel Industry Management. He champions all the revenue maximisation initiations in Rooms, Catering, Retail and Food & Beverage.
Group Human Resources Director
A veteran Human Resource professional, May Lo joined Grace International as Group Human Resources Director in June 2014. May spearheads all human resource-related functions for both The Scarlet Singapore and The Scarlet Huntington, San Francisco.
May’s career in hospitality and human resource management began in 2004 as Assistant Human Resource Manager with the Changi Village Hotel’s re-opening team. She was subsequently promoted to the corporate Group Human Resource office of Far East Organization and continued to oversee the property function of Changi Village Hotel, as well as that of another 4 hotels and 11 serviced residences under the Far East management.
Some of May’s significant achievements included formulating the manpower plan for Far East Organization’s first F&B foray as well as the human resource aspects for three more restaurants. May was also responsible in guiding the human resource team during the opening of Quincy Hotel on Mount Elizabeth.
May joins Grace International from Oasia Hotel, where as Human Resource Business Partner, she constantly innovated ways to resolve the manpower challenges in the hospitality sector.
A trained advocate and solicitor, May holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Hull, UK and a Certificate of Legal Practice from the High Court of Malaya.
Assistant Marketing & Communications Manager
Jacinda Ng is the Assistant Marketing & Communications Manager of Grace International. As a communications professional since 2011, Jacinda looks forward to enhancing and bringing greater recognition of The Scarlet brand regionally and globally.
Starting at The Singapore Island Country Club, Jacinda worked closely with a group of in-house designers to meet the marketing requirements of the club and its 8 F&B outlets, which includes a monthly magazine for its members. She also assisted with the management of key events at the club.
Jacinda was previously at an Executive Serviced Residence company, where she further sharpened her skill set in the Marketing Communications team. She worked on various advertising and marketing projects focused on the branding of the serviced apartment as an eco-luxurious apartment. Jacinda successfully started a digital signage located at the main lobby and was the creator of its content.
Jacinda began her career in the hospitality industry immediately after her graduation from University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a double major in Communication and Psychology.
General Manager – The Scarlet Huntington
As General Manager of The Scarlet Huntington, the crown of San Francisco’s iconic Nob Hill, Salavador Abaunza brings more than two decades of experience in the luxury hotel market throughout California. Salavador will be responsible for managing the landmark 134-room Nob Hill hotel and overall daily operations. He will continue to expand and heighten The Scarlet Huntington’s high standard of excellence and customer service.
Salavador was previously the General Manager of a hotel in Beverly Hills, where he was recognized as California Hotel and Lodging Association’s “2012 Outstanding General Manager of the Year.” He was later promoted to Regional General Manager, overseeing the operations of 4 different properties.
Abaunza earned a Bachelor of Creative Arts in 1978 from San Francisco State University.
